Celebrating Craftsmanship: Lieve Lieckens Wins the Tracks4Crafts Video Contest 2026

The Tracks4Crafts Video Contest 2026 has drawn to a close, celebrating the movements, gestures and skills behind craft practices. We warmly thank all participants for sharing their creativity, experiences and passion for making.

We are delighted to announce this year’s winner: Lieve Lieckens from Belgium, with her video “My ritme of life, willow weaving ...a passion”.

From her workshop in Keerbergen, Lieve shares a personal story shaped by 30 years of passion for willow weaving. From baskets to large frames for folk giants, her work reveals the strength, precision and rhythm involved in transforming natural materials into handcrafted creations.

Her video brings this year’s theme, “Movement & Gesture – The Aesthetic & Performance of Craft Processes”, to life. Through the movements of her hands and the interaction between maker and material, it offers a glimpse into the knowledge, care and joy behind her practice.

Reflecting on the recognition, Lieve says:

“It means the world to me to see the beautiful craft of willow weaving highlighted and recognized in this way.”

Watch Lieve’s winning video below and discover the gestures and rhythms of her craft.

Congratulations to Lieve, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s contest. Your contributions help make craft knowledge visible and invite wider audiences to appreciate the people, processes and traditions behind it.
