This event was an exhibition held during the annual design festival DesignMarch 2023 (May 4-6) in Reykjavík. It showcased the Icelandic Textile Center's Fabricademy participant’s final projects that explored the intersection of textiles, digital fabrication, and biology. Each project’s exploration put into question what textiles are and can be. The four projects ranged from heart disease awareness with wearables to parametrically designed textiles generated from dance to reformulating to porcelain slip casting process with local biomaterials to haptical and inflatable objects made out of local seaweed. We wanted to show possibilities of how new approaches and technology can be used and applied to textile work and inspire the use of local resources in new ways.
