In their latest contribution, they introduce a beautifully reimagined traditional garment: the “Danubian-Italian” shirt. This contemporary design blends heritage with modern aesthetics, offering a wearable piece rooted in centuries-old craftsmanship. Far from a stereotypical folk costume, the shirt features delicate lace needlework from the Black Sea region - where the Danube meets the sea - and is designed to fit effortlessly into any wardrobe, anywhere in the world.

Why the name Danubian-Italian? Semne Cusute traced the shirt’s design back to Italy, where similar styles were fashionable four centuries ago. The pattern eventually made its way to the Danube region and remained in use there until the 1960s and 70s.

Semne Cusute has now published a guide detailing how to create the shirt, complete with prototypes, practical tips, and direct links to video tutorials.
